While many of my Alpha Phi sisters are still missing our recent senior graduates, I am anxiously awaiting the up and coming arrival of new Alpha Phi sisters. Part of maintaining a thriving sorority is continuing the legacy of sisterhood after members graduate by recruiting new younger members to carry out the Alpha Phi mission. Fortunately, our campus Panhellenic Council hosts a formal recruitment process during the Fall Semester that draws in hundreds of potential new members for sororities to meet.
As the Vice President of Membership Recruitment, my department and I have been busily planning for formal recruitment all year. As you can imagine, it is difficult to convey all Alpha Phi embodies in just a few hours, especially to girls who are unfamiliar with the Greek system. However after a few days of preparation, the Alpha Phis are excited to meet and inform potential new members all about UConn Greek Life, as Formal Recruitment begins this Friday!
Monday marks the last day of recruitment, which will commence with Bid Night where Alpha Phi will welcome its newest members. At that point, our New Member Educator, Jessica Stonger, will take over the show, teaching these girls all that it means to be an Alpha Phi.
Until Then,
Sarah Mahonski
