Alpha Phi Foundation
Alpha Phi is the only sorority with its very own foundation! For nearly 50 years, the Alpha Phi Foundation has focused on women’s cardiac health as a philanthropic priority. Heart Disease is the most common killer of women with 1 of 3 deaths each year (that’s twice as many deaths than all types of cancer combined!). The Foundation generously supports programs that perpetuate life-long pride and loyalty among Alpha Phis, and positively impact the lives of all women.
KARAOKE PHI-ver
Karaoke Phi-ver is Alpha Phi’s fall philanthropy. We host a karaoke competition among members of different Greek organizations and many other groups and clubs across campus. Last year our judges included UConn Football Players, prominent members of Greek Life, and even Jonathan the Husky!
King of Hearts
King of Hearts is Alpha Phi’s spring philanthropy. Each fraternity sends one of their members to compete for the title of the Alpha Phi King of Hearts in a male beauty pageant! This fun and humorous event has won “Philanthropy of the Year” from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at UConn’s Greek Awards Ceremony in years past.
HuskyTHON
Huskython was founded in 1998 by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. It has now expanded from Greek Life to the largest philanthropic even on UConn’s campus. The event raises money for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the Children’s Miracle Network. UConn students stand on their feet for 18 hours to raise funds and show support to children with disabilities. Alpha Phi is honored to take part in this event and has helped UConn’s efforts to raise over $100,000 for these philanthropies. This past year, Alpha Phi was the TOP fundraising sorority, raising over $11,000!
