Alpha Phi realizes that the reason you are in college, is firstly, to be a student. Our goal is to enhance your learning experience by providing support in your academic career. We have sisters in every college and in almost every major at the University of Connecticut. You will be able to work with older sisters who will mentor you in all aspects of your education, from the best courses to choose, where and when to study, and even how to survive finals week! It's always easier to take a course with someone you know, to help you study for exams and take notes with. Since our sorority is comprised of over a hundred girls, it's not uncommon to have a sister in every class. Sisters are generous to aid a helping hand to tutor students in classes they previously taken. You can be assured that nothing we do in Alpha Phi will take away from your academic career. We have many sisters who balance both sorority life, and UConn's rigorous Honors Program. Some sisters have found so much support that their GPA's have improved dramaticaly after joining.

Alpha Phi's expects the best from its sisters and holds an academic standard that is higher than that of the university. To be in good standing with Alpha Phi, you must have at least a 2.5 GPA. We are pleased to announce that our sorority average is 3.1. Sisters are rewarded for high grade point averages and special programs are put in place for those who need additional help. We record library hours and encourage time spent studying. Also, each week at chapter we pass around a "skippy jar" where sisters who attended each of their classes can enter her name. At the end of chapter a random name is drawn and the sister is awarded a prize. Aside from the additional academic help, a network of graduated professionals awaits you when you begin your job search. Joining a sorority creates connections and opens new doors after graduation.

The Alpha Phi Foundation also holds scholarships that it awards to its members, you can learn more about them here.
